was done at a level that could be evaluated on equal terms

with university research. Later, the University of South-

ern Denmark became the Museum’s partner in operating

the centre, and the centre changed its name to Centre for

Maritime and Regional Studies – a name meant to express

the Centre’s multidisciplinary ambition. At the beginning

of 2016, the Centre is forming a new partnership with the

former Centre for Industrial and Business History, and will

henceforth work under the name of Centre for Maritime and

Business History. The article describes the research Centre’s

work since its establishment a little over 20 years ago.

Etnolog/historiker, ph.d., forsknings- og formidlingschef

på Fiskeri- og Søfartsmuseet og seniorforsker ved Center

for Maritime og Regionale Studier. 1990-1994 museumsin-

spektør ved Ølgod Museum, ansat som inspektør på Fiskeri-

og Søfartsmuseet 1994. Fra april 2014 konstitueret leder af

CMRS og fra juni 2015 konstitueret direktør for Fiskeri- og

Søfartsmuseet. Forfatter til artikler og bøger vedrørende

maritimhistorie, Vadehavets kulturhistorie samt kulturmiljø

og kulturarv.
